Anna Brekken

Paralegal

Anna is originally from Minnesota but has lived in Washington, Florida, California, Washington D.C., and Maryland, as well as internationally. Anna began working for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the Baltimore Field Office in 2008 after graduating with a master’s degree from Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy in Malibu, California. Anna continued to work for USCIS in various offices including the Spokane and Seattle field offices, the Refugee Affairs Division, the Immigrant Investor Program, and Refugee and International Operations where she held positions such as Immigration Services Officer, Refugee Officer, and Supervisory Immigration Services Officer. Anna had the opportunity to travel to several different countries interviewing refugees during her time with the Refugee Affairs Division, traveling mainly to the Middle East but also to Africa and East Asia. Anna has always had a passion for helping migrants through the U.S. immigration process, ensuring that all migrants are treated with dignity and respect.

After nearly two decades as an immigration officer, Anna transitioned to the private sector to use her deep knowledge of the government side of immigration to help our couples achieve successful outcomes. Her invaluable insight into how officers think and conduct their adjudications is a tremendous asset to the couples we serve.

Anna is married to Alvaro, who is originally from Costa Rica, and together they have a stepson, Gabriel, and two dogs.  On a personal note, Anna has also navigated the immigration process herself alongside her husband, giving her a unique perspective that truly sets her apart.
